BC Parks & Public Works Group
The Parks and Public Works sector employs approximately 10,000 workers in a variety of occupations that include our four main sectors: Parks, Roads and Sidewalks, Water Distribution and Sewers & Wastewater.
BCPPWG is committed to the creation of one, centralized training network which is accessible to the public and to all Parks and Public Works employees across British Columbia. PPWG is dedicated to helping Parks and Public Works employees build skill sets that are transferable, develop cross training programs, and provide opportunities for succession and career planning within the Parks and Public Works sector. They are working to raise the awareness of PPWG to the public, and to improve training and education in our industry. The group is currently comprised of employers including municipalities, regional districts, First Nations communities, BC school districts, and stakeholders from industry associations such as the
Local Government Management Association of BC, the Public Works Association of BC, the
BC Municipal Safety Association, the
BC Water & Waste Association,
CUPE BC, and
BC Recreation and Parks Association. The group is funded by the
Ministry of Regional Economic and Skills Development, with in-kind contributions from the sector.
