AWARDS TO INDIVIDUALS
1) DEDICATED SERVICE AWARD
- To be awarded to the PWABC member who has, in the opinion of the Executive, contributed significantly to the furthering of the interests of Public Works in B.C.
2) PWABC MANAGER OF THE YEAR AWARD
- To be awarded to the manager/supervisor who, in the opinion of the Executive, best exemplifies the spirit and professionalism of the Association
- Based on nomination by at least one member and endorsement by several staff of the candidate
Factors taken into consideration for selection
- number of years in public works
- technical accomplishments - design and/or coordination of major infrastructure projects
- managerial accomplishments /initiatives /innovation
- professional involvement
- publications or presentations to conferences
- community service
- support of public works education efforts
- PWABC member, active in year of award
INNOVATIONS
- To be awarded to the municipality which, in the opinion of the Executive, has developed the most original, imaginative and useful idea for public works or utility operations
Factors taken into consideration for selection
- originality
- usefulness
- simplicity
- adaptability to other municipalities
AWARDS TO MUNICIPALITIES
PROJECT OF THE YEAR
- To be awarded to the municipality which, in the opinion of the Executive, commissions, engineers and constructs a major and complex public works or utilities project which deserves special merit because of its unique features or complexity relative to the resources of the community
- Based on nomination by at least one member and support by the community, the consultant and the contractor
Factors taken into consideration for selection
- of significant benefit to the community
- completed substantially by the year of the award
- on time and budget
- provides an environmental or social benefit
- innovation in design
- success of public participation program
- safety record
- financing complexity
- environmental protection measures taken
- quality of final works
- complexity
Note: With the exception of the Innovations Award, these awards may not be awarded every year, depending on whether or not there are suitable candidates nominated.
