This years 75th Anniversary Technical Conference and Tradeshow is shaping up nicely. Ric Bains and David Myles have put together what promises to be a great event. Highlights of the 2007 conference include: · Peter McCoppin an internationally renowned conductor, broadcaster and communicator will be presenting at our pre-conference session on the topic of “The Essence of True Leadership”. Drawing on inspiring stories from distinguished political and business leaders, this session shares the values, behaviors and execution of true leadership. · Key note speaker Steven Donahue known for his fast paced humor and heart stopping tales from his desert odyssey will kick off our conference with an incredible tale of crossing the Sahara Desert while relating this adventure to your every day life. · Operator Technical Session comprised of ˝ day session on utility locates combined with ˝ day of the tradeshow. The utility locate session will count towards any CEU’s you happen to be collecting. Perfectly suited to individuals required to perform utility locates. · 18 technical papers directly related to Public Works PWABC Technical Conference is not only educational it provides one of the best opportunities to network with many people in our industry. I hope to see all of you there in September. An important part of our annual conference is recognizing individuals and organizations for their contribution to Public Works. As Public Works professionals we often down play how important of a service we provide to the residents in our communities on a daily basis. Please help us recognize those deserving individuals and projects of our industry by taking the time to visit the PWABC website section on Awards at http://pwabc.cpwa.net to make a nomination of a worthy person or project. Murray Steer chair of the education committee has made significant strides towards the completion of the highly anticipated Public Works Supervisor course. This program will be rolled out in the fall of 2007. Keep an eye on the PWABC website for details. On a final note I would like to thank our Road Runner Editor Trevor Kushner for taking the initiative to update the look and feel of the Road Runner. Positive comments have been received by all.
