The Public Works Association of BC Technical Conference, to be held in Nelson, BC, is rapidly approaching. Bob Adams and his crew are hard at work with the local arrangements which will surely make for an impressive conference from September 14 – 17. The membership in our association is relatively steady. The executive met on June 4 & 5 in Surrey to revisit our strategic plan and we had an excellent session with MSA, executive and various invited guests. Highlights of the plan involve: · Member involvement · Education · Increasing membership · Certification We will present the plan at our AGM in September 2004. Ryan Walter will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming conference. He is a former NHL player and a great motivational speaker. Ryan will also host our pre conference workshop. The Canadian Public Works Association has been very active over the past several months working on issues of interest to Canada. The newest topic is providing the Technology Road Map to provincial leaders and obtaining government endorsement. We look forward to seeing everyone in September where we can renew acquaintances and partake in interesting and informative technical sessions. Yours truly,
Don
