Spring is in the air and summer is fast approaching. Time to get those construction boots out and polish the old hard hat. I don't know what you think but if the rate at which large significant projects are being rolled out is any indication, we are in for one busy construction season which could last for a few years. As we get ready for the 2010 Olympic and Para Olympic Games this could be a precedent setting year in the Province. For example, the Sea to Sky Highway Improvement project is about to be awarded and will be one of, if not the, largest road construction projects awarded in the Province's history. Another large and significant project to commence in 1995 is the Golden Ears Bridge.
As I have mentioned previously, your Executive is exploring new initiatives aimed at improving the services provided and addressing the needs of our membership. We are in the process of conducting a survey of the membership to review the services currently provided and those you would like to see. I would like to emphasize that this survey is being undertaken at the initiative of your own Chapter and is not one of the Association. Considering this, I would encourage all of you to let your thoughts and feelings be known. Some of the initiatives the Executive are exploring include expanding the size of the Road Runner making room for more technical articles and product advertisements, the development of made in BC supervisory programs for Public Works Officials and Equipment Operator certification programs.
Just a reminder that applications for the Chapters Education Scholarship must be submitted by June 30
Don't forget to set aside some time to attend this years Conference in Salmon Arm September 13 to 16. John Rosenberg has promised nice warm weather to extend your summer.
I would also like to add short a message regarding:
A CALL FOR TECHNICAL ARTICLES
