National Public Works Week

National Public Works Week is observed each year during the third week of May.  The Week calls attention to the importance of public works in community life.  The Week seeks to enhance the prestige of the often unsung heroes of our society - the professional engineers, administrators and the workers.  Its goal is to raise the public's awareness of public works issues and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the present and future generations.

This year, National Public Works Week has been designated for the week of May 18-24.  This year's theme is "The Strength of Public Works".  I encourage every public works employee to "spread the word".  Use this week to demonstrate to your citizens what you do and are responsible for within you own communities.  Be it through displays, contests or competitions, take this Week to show how "The Strength of Public Works" enhances your communities.  Take photos of your events.  Let us know what you did.  You never know, that picture may turn up in the Road Runner
