CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS

2006 Annual Technical Conference

 

 

The Public Works Association of British Columbia (PWABC) is hosting their ANNUAL TECHNICAL CONFERENCE in Salmon Arm, B.C. September 13-16, 2005.  The conference will consist of four days of  presentations of a technical, administrative, human resources or operational nature as they relate to Public Works and Engineering functions. The presentations will be one hour in length.  Submissions of a one-page abstract are invite.

Criteria for Selection

 

1. Originality: The abstract should deal with new concepts or novel, practical applications of innovative concepts.

2. Status of Project or Process: The abstract should establish that the project or process is well developed and should present data or results to support the hypothesis.

3. Content: Objectives and scope of the project or process should be stated and general procedures and methodology used should be presented.  Conclusions should be drawn directly from the investigation.

4. Benefits and Significance: Actual benefits and widespread applications in the Public Works and Engineering field should be supported.

5. Quality: The adequacy of the abstract is considered indicative of the quality of the final paper and of the PWABC 2004 Conference.  Authors should prepare their abstracts so that they may be distributed and assimilated by a broad range of municipal officials, consultants and municipal suppliers.

 

Deadline for Submissions:  May 8, 2006.

 

Authors will be notified of selected abstracts by June 26, 2006.  Selected presenters will be expected to provide an electronic copy of the paper for purposes of placement on the PWABC website. We would also request that a minimum of 20 hard copies of the paper be made available at the presentation for those in attendance.

You do not have to be a PWABC member to submit an abstract.
