Ideas and Gadgets

$500 in Prizes

1st place - $300;        2nd place - $125;        3rd place - $75

The Public Works Association of British Columbia is offering $500 in prizes to the individual or individuals responsible for the best idea or gadget related to public works. Ideas and gadgets will be judged based on originality, universality, creativity and practicality.

Front line staff in our municipal crews are actively developing and inventing creative and better ways to get the job done. This attitude is becoming essential to the way we accomplish the goals set for us - "Do More with Less". The Association has received an increasing number of submissions in each of the past few years and it has become necessary to recognize more than just the best submission.

Cash prizes will go directly to the staff persons involved and named on the winning submissions. The plaque (1st place only) will be presented at the annual Public Works Conference at Penticton in September. All submissions will be displayed at the conference so everyone can benefit from the genius of others.

The winning submissions will include a detailed explanation, photographs, costing and the inventor(s) names.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the Ideas and Gadgets Awards.

Please submit your ideas or gadgets by August 31 to:
